Risk-Taking Mission and Service
There’s a lot we just don’t understand about ourselves, our community, and God until we “sweat for Jesus.” We've certainly grasped that in Cullman lately. Everyone has a burden they’re carrying — pain or grief or worry or guilt. So we could all use some encouragement, hope, forgiveness, and grace.
The Lord is seeking to meet everyone at their point of need… and to do so through you. As we serve people, we find that our own burdens are lifted a bit. This is perhaps the clearest teaching from Jesus: that it’s only through losing ourselves that we find ourselves.
That usually doesn’t happen unless we're reminded to look for such opportunities and are willing to risk it. So...
go out of your way to be kind to someone each day, especially those in servant roles. Leave a good tip for the waiter or waitress. Get interested in folks you normally ignore. Take someone fresh-baked cookies. Tutor a kid. Really listen to a hurting friend. Give secretly.
