We are not the audience in the drama of worship, God is. Worship is not something we watch; it's what we get to do. Worship often happens when we are least expecting it, so we are caught off guard. A simple trip to the grocery becomes an experience in awe as we are captivated by some piece of God's creation. What starts as a conversation with a friend becomes a reminder of God's love for us. Worship in community can surprise as well.
Each weekend at First, we worship in ways that could be described as both traditional and contemporary. Mostly, we want that worship to be directed toward and by God. Our sanctuary is being repaired following an April 27, 2011 tornado. During the restoration of the sanctuary, we will worship at 8:45 (with contemporary music led by a band) in Hearin Hall, at 8:45 (with classic and classical music) in the Choir Room (second floor) and at 11:00 (with classic and classical music led by a choir and organ) - in Hearin Hall.
